Those arrested are of Nigerian, Liberian, British, Togolese and Indian nationalities with their ages ranging from 20 to 40.

Thirty of them are males while thirty-seven are females.

They were arrested at two locations at La, Club T and 3 Step and on the Spintex Road.

The arrest followed intelligence report that some foreigners with no valid stay documents were residing in those areas.

The exercise was carried out by personnel of the Service drawn from the Anti-Human Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons (AHSTIP) Unit, as well as Operations, Intelligence and Enforcement Units within the GIS.

Further investigations, according to Head of Public Relations (PR), ACOI Francis Palmdeti, are being conducted since some of them were said to be engaged in internet scams and prostitution.

Following the swoop, the GIS stated that 'we wish to draw the attention of foreign nationals residing in Ghana that the GIS would not countenance any breaches of immigration laws as well as the conditions attached to permits or visas issued to them.'

The GIS, the PR Head noted, had appealed to the public to alert them about any suspected breaches of the laws of Ghana by any foreign national.
