The ''Peace Bomb''

The ''Peace Bomb''
09.09.2013 LISTEN

Unfortunately people who are in the helms of affairs in Ghana are singing the Peace Songs. None of them advocates for Justice. Yet the nation's slogan is Freedom and Justice.

The verdict by the supreme court has surprised many of us . The man called VERIFICATION has varnished from the system . ''No verification no vote '' has disappeared from the supreme court and it no longer holds water. What was the sense in imparting all the verification machines if voting could be done without them.

It took the nation eight good months to trial the case and only about three minutes to give the verdict . Wonderful Ghana !! What legacy are we leaving for our grandchildren if the highest court of the land decides to throw all the charges levelled against the EC to the winds. The nation should not be made to lose confidence in our highest court else there would be anarchy in future elections.

The ruling is posing threat and misunderstanding in many circles and the uneasy peace enveloping the nation should not be taken for granted . We have forgotten too soon that Freedom and Justice are our watchwords. Before the death of King Solomon , Israel was peaceful and united. But after his death the peace and unity varnished into the thin air.

The Northern Kingdom did not break away because of Rehoboam's speech. It was the unjust rule of King Solomon which contributed greatly to the Fall of the Northern Kingdom . The Bible has it that Solomon sold part of land of the Northern Kingdom and introduced Force labour.

The French Revolution also did not come about because of the maladministration of Louis VI. His forefathers had treated the common people so badly that they became fed up with the monarchy. Today people are boiling with anger and the uneasy peace may one day lead our children to go to war.

The legacy of Peace will be illusion if we decide not to call a spade a spade. We need, as a nation to look for Justice if we do not want Ghana to go the way Kenya , Ivory Coast and others have gone.

One is left to wonder why the Judges have kept so long with the written documents which will explain the rational behind their verdict . They like the EC also made error in their judgment by announcing 6-3 verdict instead of 5-4 . Who knows if the written documents are full of errors.

We invite the NPP to review their stand and go for a Review because we do not understand the unjust delay of the documents . Without justice there would be no peace.

The peace they are preaching is full of dangerous risks . We stand the risk of war if future elections are conducted in the same manner.

People will be very reluctant to go to court. If the verdict is a just verdict let the Ghana Bar association educate us now .Understanding the verdict is the best way of bringing the nation together.

We would like to stress that the alternative to peace is not war. After all we can all for sit down strike in our fight for Justice.
