A praise and worship festival to mark a peaceful aftermath of the 2012 election petition judgement would be organised in Accra on October 5, 2013.

Dubbed 'Ghana Praise Festival 2013', it is expected to rally together 20,000 people from all walks of life at the Accra Sports Stadium to celebrate the goodness of the Lord during and after the December 2012 election, as well as the successful end to the eight month-long election petition.

In attendance would be the biggest praise band in Africa from South Africa, the Joyous Choir Celebration, which is billed to lead the praise and worship concert alongside two local artistes.

Organised by Urban Link Consul and Joy fm, the concert is expected to rally together many Ghanaians to give praise and thanks to the Lord for seeing the country through a peaceful aftermath of the election petition.

At the launch of the programme in Accra yesterday, the Head of Sales and Marketing of Multimedia, Mr David Max Fugar, said although the country was not out of the woods yet, the 60-man praise and worship team from the Joyous Choir would be in the country to celebrate the peaceful outcome of the election petition with Ghanaians through praise and worship.

He said the praise festival, which is expected to be held yearly, would be the country's way of showing appreciation to God for hearing the numerous cries for peace.

Mr Fugar said a lot of churches had shown interest in the programme, for which reason he expected the event to be one of the biggest ever in the country.

A representative of a three-member delegation from the Joyous Choir, Mr Lindelani Mkhize, said the choir was happy to accept the invitation from Urban Consult to join Ghanaians in the Praise Festival because his country, South Africa, experienced a similar tension 19 years ago.

Mr Mkhize said the choir, which was born out of that tension in South Africa 19 years ago, used music to inspire people to ensure that there was peace in that country during the change from apartheid to democratically elected government.

The team has performed in countries like Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Canada and London.

A representative of Urban Link Consult, Ms Elikplim Dzrekey, said the company was organising the Praise festival to rally all believers to give praise and thanks to the Lord through music, praise, dance and merry making.
