Voice Of Reason: Are Ghanaians Waiting In Vain For Hope?

Voice Of Reason: Are Ghanaians Waiting In Vain For Hope?
22.08.2013 LISTEN

We've been waiting for almost a year to exhale
To see what Ghana could wear to sail
When the Supreme Court has the nation's future on hold

The nation's future is in a hole
And because of the Electoral Commission's poor and lousy job

The nation has been robbed
Everyone's counting the days like a pregnant woman
With anxiousness, anticipation, apprehensiveness but no plan.

Hoping against hope.
Where hope is a scarce commodity in the neighborhoods' shop.

Speculations and conspiracy abound
And the rich and politicians are fleeing to abroad
The middle class is religiously renewing and processing passports and visa to flee with families and loved ones.

Leaving the poor, old, young and handicaps behind
Yes, you can bet a lot of money will change hands
Filling their foreign bank accounts just in case
Because our fears and concerns are their back-case
Now just check out whom you have to die for
When the nation has been crying for help for a long haul

Just in case anyone's thinking of the unthinkables
Let's rewind the Biafra war tapes
What about the Liberian war tapes?
Watch them on 29th August.
They will help you to digest
A nation with only twenty-something millions
Has the potentials to make zillions
But, we rather think of how to blow it up in flame
Just for a few individuals' own welfare and fame
I wonder, can the home-front issues entice the socio-economic- self-imposed exiles to come home?

When the Ghanaian rich are fleeing with their families and hommies?

When are we going to stop the sons and daughters of Ghana from being Globetrotters?

So that they can stay home and be the nation's valuable assets?

Why are we tearing the nation apart with impunity?
Oh Lord, churches and prayer camps are filled to capacity!

Members are getting on their knees to cry to the Almighty

Some are going without sex for weeks for vanity
I wonder if it's really part of sanity!
But with all our iniquities and bad deeds
I wonder if God will ever hear our prayers and needs

August 29th is just around the corner
I hope we're not just kidding ourselves and looking for a cover

I hope we're not just waiting in vain
This is the time to uncover the veil
Please wake me up
When it's all over on August 30th
