One person has been shot dead and another injured after armed persons attacked their residence at Sampsonkrom, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on the night of Wednesday July 17.
The deceased, a security personnel, and the injured, 40-year-old Abubakar Fuseini, have all been sent to the AngloGold Ashanti hospital at Obuasi.
Abubakar Fuseini was shot in the leg, but Police say he is responding to treatment.
Obuasi Police Crime Officer, DSP Otuo Acheampong said his outfit was informed around 6:30 am about the attack.
The assailants attacked the two victims at the residence of the injured person, who is a gold dealer.
The residence of Abubakar also serves as the premises for his gold-dealing business.
