British Prime Minister lauds Ghana's swift economic growth

British Prime Minister David Cameron has lauded what he says is Ghana's swift economic gains which has positioned the country as the eighth fastest growing economy in the World.

He said Britain looks forward to improving relationship with Ghana in Bilateral Trade and Investment.

David Cameron also praised Ghana's efforts in regional security issues citing its contribution in Mali.

He was speaking after a meeting with President John Mahama in London on Friday.

“We are full of admiration for the economic progress you are making,” he said describing Ghana's performance as “amazingly impressive”.

President John Mahama said Ghana sees Britain as a worthy partner.

He said discussions at the ongoing G8 Summit are relevant to Ghana's emerging oil and gas industry.

“Ghana has a young oil and gas industry that has just started contributing to our economy and we want to make it as transparent as possible, and we are very certain that this conference will give us many more ideas as to how to continue to move that industry forward.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga, has been briefing the Media in London on some private meetings President Mahama has held with business groups and Mayor of London.

He said discussions were based on revamping Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Ghana and promoting partnership with the United Kingdom.
