The suspect Kweku Ansong

The Tesano Branch of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has arrested a 30-year-old trader, Kweku Ansong, for allegedly defiling two out of six children in turns, at Taifa.

The suspect, currently in police custody, allegedly lured the children with an amount of GH¢10 from a place called Abuja behind Accra CMB to his Taifa residence where he defiled the two children.

Four of the children who claimed they declined to have sex with suspect were sacked from the suspect's room around 2:00am yesterday.

ASP Experanza Ayensu-Danso, the Tesano Divisional DOVVSU officer told DAILY GUIDE that the children were brought to the police station around 2:00am yesterday by a police patrol team.

The patrol team spotted the children at Abeka junction around 2:00am walking briskly towards Accra.

Upon interrogation, the victims confessed that suspect Kweku Ansong had lured them to his residence to have sex with them.

They were quickly handed over to Tesano DOVVSU for investigations.

The victims are Bertha Kumadzi-14, Sarah Ofosua-15, Rebecca Bruce-13, Ruth Amponsah-14, Margaret Akosua Otiwaa-14 and Grace Mensah-14.

Two of the victims, Grace Mensah and Ruth Amponsah confirmed to the police that Kweku succeeded in sleeping with them.

While the four others said because they refused the suspect's request for sex, they were sacked from the room that fateful day.

Based on the statements given by the victims, suspect Kweku was arrested to help the police in investigations.

According to Grace and Ruth, suspect Kweku often came to pick them from their Abuja place of abode to his residence at Taifa to have sex with them after which he gave them GH¢10 and G¢H13 each.

ASP Experanza said the victims would be sent to the hospital for medical examination and if it was established that the suspect slept with them, he would be charged for defilement.

However, the victims later told the paper that they were all school dropouts who had left their parents for Abuja, to make a living.

The victims said they normally escorted the visually impaired to beg for alms after which they were paid.

Sarah Ofosua told the paper that his father is a head teacher of Suhum Kurabua Coaltar District Assembly School while the mother, Gladys Kudjo is a teacher at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region.

She followed her brother, a trader, to Accra a year ago.

Another, Ruth Amponsah, is from Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The father, Emmanuel Amponsah and mother, Agnes Awurama are traders based at Amasaman.

She also joined the friends at Abuja a year ago without the knowledge of her parents.

The third victim, Rebecca Bruce is the daughter of Robert Bruce of Mankessim.

She came to Accra with the uncle who is a visually impaired to beg for alms.

The fourth victim, Bertha Kumadzi is the daughter of Florence Kumadzi of Kaneshie market.

The fifth victim, Grace Mensah is the daughter of Kweku Mensah aka Abacha of Abossey Okai while the mother, Abigail Adofu  is a trader at  Tabora Alhaji in Accra.

The last victim Margaret Otiwaa is the daughter of Kwabena Sarpong of Tarkwah, a vulcanizer while the mother, Abena Kunadu is a trader at Ablekuma.

ASP Experanza urged the parents to contact the Tesano Police for their wards.
