A member of the communication team for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adoryeh has slammed the actions of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) meted to Michael Omari Wadie as 'useless' in the era of the democratic dispensation.

The outspoken member of the NPP said that instead of the National Security to be on the lookout for the real criminals in the country, they pounced on Omari Wadie like the most wanted criminal in the world; adding that the BNI should have told him the cause of his arrest and be given the right to a counsel of his choice as the constitution demands.

Speaking on Okay FM, he said that the action of the BNI is rather deepening the embarrassment of President Mahama as this does not auger well for the President and the country.

He bemoaned that as the chairman of the National Security Council, President Mahama should caution the National Security to change their modus operandi; stressing that the aggressive activities of the National Security many years ago should not be made to continue in the current indulgence of democracy.

He however said that the activities of the BNI should be molded in such a way that whenever there is an arrest of a person the family members of the suspect can rest in their homes without marching to the office of BNI.

Hopeson Adoryeh hinted that the grubby picture of President Mahama was generated by one Ayitey Basty who is a member of NDC; adding that the young man felt cheated after the 2012 elections and sworn to disgrace the President in this manner.

He further stated that the disgusting picture of President Mahama came about when some members of NDC on a facebook page likened Nana Akufo-Addo to a monkey on their wals which received similar response from Omari Wadie.

In view of the squalid picture of the President, the NDC made a press conference calling for the arrest of Omari Wadie; stressing that the BNI acted on the press conference of the NDC to arrest him without looking at the consequences this action may pose on President Mahama.

He therefore recounted that this kind of sordid pictures irrespective of who they affect must not be entertained in the country and that Omari Wadie was a wrong person to receive such treatment from the BNI.

He however said that the action of the BNI should not surprise anybody since to him there has been a time the National Security Coordinator, Larry Gbevlo Lartey has been seen supporting insults rained on Nana Akufo-Addo by an NDC Parliamentary candidate, Sedinam Tamakloe on campaign platforms.

'..He is the most useless national security coordinator Ghana has ever had', he chided; adding that if a whole national security coordinator can go on campaign platform to support insults emanating from wikileaks then Ghana is doomed.

Host of the 'Ghana Decides' program, Kwame Nkrumah cautioned him to retract his statement but Hopeson Adoryeh remained adamant as he said that for the purpose of the program 'I have discontinue the statement but it does not mean that I am retracting my earlier submission'.

He therefore challenged the National Security to use their machinery to track down armed robbers and assassins who are planning to rob or kill and not to engage in such frivolous actions which add nothing to the progress of the country.
