
A Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, has called on corporate bodies to partner the ministry to organise the 2013 edition of the Best Teacher Awards ceremony to be held on October 5, 2013.
He made the call when he presented special certificates of appreciation, jointly signed by President John Mahama and the Minister of Education, to 14 corporate bodies who sponsored the 2012 edition of the Best Teacher Awards held in Kumasi.
The companies included SIC Life, EPP Books Ltd, Ecobank, Zepto Ltd, Somotex Ltd, rlg Communication, MTN Ghana Foundation, Metropolitan Pension Trust and Starlife Assurance Co. Ltd.
Mr Kyeremeh stated that because of the immense contributions of teachers towards national development, there was the need to adequately reward them. He, therefore, called on teachers to put in their maximum efforts to promote teaching and learning in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer of EPP Books Ltd, Mr Gibrine Adam, on behalf of the recipients commended the ministry for the honour and pledged their continuous support in rewarding outstanding teachers.
Present at the function were Mr Enoch Cobbinah, the Chief Director of the ministry, Ms Rabiana Azara Amandi, the Director, Pre-tertiary Division, who is also the National Co-ordinator of the Best Teacher Award Scheme, Mr Paul Kofi Krampa, the Director in charge of Public Relations at the ministry, Mr Donald Tay, Director, Tertiary Division, and Mr Charles Parker Allotey, Public Relations Officer of the GES.
