On May 28-30, thousands of global leaders will gather in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for one of the largest conferences of the decade focused on girls and women. This landmark conference - Women Deliver 2013 - will call on the global community to continue to place girls' and women's health and rights at the top of the global development agenda.
Print, broadcast and online journalists who are unable to attend Women Deliver 2013 in person can register virtually. Virtual registrants will receive access to conference materials and will be able to participate in the meeting via global webcasts and an active online press room.
All conference plenaries and presidential sessions will be live webcast, and archived videos will be available immediately after their conclusion. The daily official Women Deliver 2013 press conferences will be recorded, and available by the end of each day Malaysia time (MYT). The virtual media room will house all communications materials, including media advisories, press releases and factsheets.
The conference will focus on three key themes: investing in girls and women, ensuring global access to family planning, and prioritizing girls & women in the post-2015 development framework. Global luminaries - including His Excellency Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak,
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Co-Chair Melinda Gates, UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin and High-level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda Member Graça Machel - will speak to these issues.
'Women Deliver 2013 could not come at a more critical time,' said Women Deliver President & Founder Jill Sheffield. 'Shortly after the conference, global leaders will release their recommendations on the post-Millennium Development Goal framework - so we must raise our voices and be heard. Girls and women should - and must - be front and center.'
Women Deliver 2013 will be a global conference that engages voices from around the world - both those attending in person and those attending virtually. Through these conversations, the meeting will demonstrate the importance of prioritizing girls and women now and in the years to come.
