Accra, May 18, GNA - Microsoft is poised to invest in the young and promising Information Communication Technology (ICT) experts who are willing to transform Ghana through the power of ICT.
Mrs Mercy Omari Tenkorang, Head of Business Development of Microsoft-Ghana, said Microsoft had put in place pragmatic measures to discover promising ICT experts capable of providing solutions to the country's problems through the application of technology.
She said investment in the potential of the youth was very important in building a strong economic and social structures to secure the foundation of the country.
Mrs Tenkorang made this known to Ghana News Agency at an IT Seminar for students and alumni of Kofi Annan Information Technology Centre on Wednesday in Accra.
The event was to interact with the students and to reveal the different Microsoft software which they can use develop their applications to suit needs of the country.
Mrs Tenkorang said the event was also intended to scout promising ICT experts who Microsoft would provide with the necessary support to create innovative applications.
She said these experts would be trained and given the opportunity to exhibit their creativity to enable them compete with foreign applications in the country.
'With this, they will not be tempted to travel outside Ghana to seek greener pastures elsewhere', she said.
Mrs Tenkorang advised the students to identify problematic areas which needed much attention and develop appropriate applications to address those problems.
Microsoft has organised similar workshop in schools such as Ghana Technology University College and Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology and it will be extended to other Universities in the country.
