Ntotroso(E/R), May 18, GNA - Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) has announced the commencement of its fifth anniversary celebrations in Ahafo.
A statement signed by Mr Joseph Danso, the Executive Secretary and copied to the GNA, said from May 19 to June 16, a series of activities have been planned to commemorate the 5th anniversary celebration.
It said the theme for the anniversary is: 'NADeF - Five years of creating sustainable futures through partnerships.'
The statement said amongst the activities earmarked for the celebration include the signing of the Revised Foundation Agreement, the NADeF Anniversary Lecture, a grand durbar, health screening, clean-up exercises and a football gala.
It said the Foundation, established in May 2008, is Newmont Ghana's Ahafo Mine main driver of sustainable development in its host communities.
The statement said over the past five years, Newmont Ghana has contributed approximately USmillion to NADeF for the execution of various infrastructural and non-infrastructural projects.
It said US.2million, which is 10 per cent of the contribution, has been invested into an endowment fund for the communities as a seed fund after the life of the mine.
The statement said NADeF has completed and handed over about 40 infrastructural projects including community libraries, teachers' quarters, ICT centres, clinic, schools, and water system facilities across the 10 host communities of the Ahafo Mine.
