Accra, May 18, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama on Friday presented a 33-seater bus to the National Council of Zongo Chiefs in Accra.
The gesture was in response to a request made by the Council last year to the President for a bus to enable them carry out their responsibilities nationwide.
President Mahama, at the presentation said, the vehicle will enhance the movement of the Council as they coordinate their activities and programmes in other regions.
He pledged his continuous support to the chiefs of the nation and appealed to them to continue to pray for peace, unity and development.
Chief Imoro Baba Issa, Public Relations Officer of the Council, said it is the intension of the Council to begin a variety of projects including: Community Sanitation Improvement projects, Community Afforestation Programs, Zongo Youth in Livestock Development and Conflict Resolution programs.
He said the gesture was the first of its kind and that the bus will greatly support the Council in their activities and enable them reach out to their Regional and District branches with ease.
Chief Issa expressed the Council's appreciation and thanked the President assuring him that the facility will be properly maintained and put to good use.
