NPP Petition Is Foolish And A Waste Of Time -ULP Leader

Former Presidential hopeful in Ghana, Mr. Ramon Osei Akoto has rubbished the Election Petition to the Supreme Court by the NPP.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (First Petitioner), together with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (Second Petitioner) and the Party's National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey (Third Petitioner) are in court challenging the validity of the election results as declared by the country's Electoral Commission after the December 7 and 8 general elections.

The Respondents are President John Dramani Mahama, the Electoral Commission and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The petitioners argue that the elections were fraught with unpardonable flaws which must not be left uninvestigated.

They accuse the NDC of conspiring with the EC to deny Nana Akufo-Addo victory at the polls. They therefore, are praying the Court to nullify the EC's results which declared President Mahama as winner of the Presidential poll.

The petitioner's want the court to annul 4,670,504 of the valid votes cast during the election at 11,138 polling stations where they claim a lot of anomalies occurred.

But Mr. Ramon Osei Akoto has indicated that the NPP's case is a 'foolish case and a waste of time' and that 'food is important than this case.'

Commenting on the Petition on his 'facebook wall', the Founder of the United Love Party (ULP) counseled the NPP to withdraw their case saying 'Food is more important than NPP and this court case. Let's think about how to get clean food to eat. The case is a foolish case anyway. Total waste of time and precious resources. End it.'

It is important to note that the NPP Petition had already been rubbished by leading members of their Party and other high profile personalities as well as local and international Organisations.

Leading members of the NPP including Mr. Kwame Pianim, Dr. Wereko Brobbey, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) as well as the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the People's National Convention (PNC) have insisted that the NPP have little to prove in court.

In furtherance to condemning the Petition, the Founder of ULP accused Nana Akufo-Addo of exhibiting his 'all-die-be-die' agenda in another approach at the Supreme Court. He said 'All die be die means business people, the man is not playing. He is not coming with guns yet anyway but distraction and economic turmoil. What we are seeing is All die be die in action.'

Mr. Ramon Osei Akoto went further to state that 'This case must come to an end now. It is a foolish case. It has become a distraction and must be thrown out of court quickly. We all know what goes on in the EC offices. This is nothing new, ladies and gentlemen. My main concern is wasted resources. Looking back at Akufo-Addo's campaign up until now, the man has evil intentions and it's getting clearer as this case progresses. This is a shameful fight. Shame! Shame! Shame!'

Clearly, the cross-examination by all the Counsel for the Respondents has cleared many doubts in the minds of Ghanaians.

The court whittled the case down to two issues.
They included whether or not there were statutory violations, irregularities, omissions and malpractices in the 2012 general elections and if same impacted the final results.
