Cape Town (South Africa), May 7, GNA - Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Tuesday arrived in Cape Town, South Africa for the 23rd World Economic Forum on Africa.

About 1000 international, government, political, business and civil society leaders are attending the three day event scheduled for May 8 to May 10, at the Cape Town Convention Centre.

On the theme: 'Delivering on Africa's Promise,' the forum would provide a platform for the participants to discuss Africa's integration and commitment to a sustainable path of growth and development.

The leaders would also discuss issues such as accelerating economic diversification, boosting strategic infrastructure and unlocking Africa's talents.

With Africa's expected growth of five per cent in 2012-2013, sub-Saharan Africa continues its transformation from a developing continent to a hub of global growth.

Experts agree that almost half of African countries are attaining middle income status but the continent's positive outlook is threatened by fluctuating commodity prices, rising inequality and youth unemployment, which call on Africa's leaders to strengthen the continent's competitiveness, foster inclusive growth and build resilience in a volatile global environment.
