The former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Anthony Abaayifa Karbo has described the second petitioner of the on-going 2012 election petition by the NPP against the NDC and the EC as a 'Killer Witness' who is ever ready to give consistent answers despite an attempt by Tony Lithur to aggravate him.
According to him, any lawyer who is set to face Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the witness box should really be prepared since his level of intelligence to answer tricky questions is far beyond imagination.
“If you are a lawyer and have a person like Bawumia then you are in trouble, because he is very stubborn and a smart witness. If you want an annoying witness who's confident, intelligent and quick, his witty analytical power shows in all his consistent answers. Any lawyer to face such a person will definitely be in trouble just as he confused the lawyer,” he said.
Counsel for the first respondent in the election petition case before the Supreme Court, Tony Lithur in his cross examination sought to discredit Dr. Bawumia's evidence of over voting, voting without biometric verification among others.
The panel of judges hearing the election petition on Monday rejected a request by the lawyers for the respondents for a full audit of the pink sheets submitted by the petitioners saying a recount would not affect the case for now.
According to the lawyers, since the second petitioner, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia admitted during cross-examination that some of the pink sheets were duplicated; there was the need for an audit.
Karbo speaking on Adom FM believes whether Tony Lithur still remains to his pink sheets delayed tactics which issues has been raised by the panel judges; Dr. Bawumia is ever ready to answer all questions without any qualms.
“Bawumia is gradually collapsing NDC's case with his response during the cross-examination. If you ask him (Dr. Bawumia) 11,000 questions, is the same answer you will get for the 11, 000 questions…The NPP is not in court to joke, it's a matter of serious issues,” he said.
