Year 2012 once again drew the attention of the world towards another yet to be generally acclaimed peaceful, free and fair general elections Ghana. Comparatively, events leading to the 2012 elections witnessed an issue based campaign with less amount of acrimony and negative campaign. However, it turned out that first ever in the history of Ghana; votes were cast in two days i.e. 7th and 8th December, 2012 instead of the constitutionally provided day-7th December, 2012.

The 2012 general elections in Ghana left in its wake legal tussle among key bodiesnamely; NDC, NPP, Electoral Commission and the Supreme Court whose actions or inactions could either maintain Ghana on her peace march or throw the country into pandemonium.

Youth for Peace in Africa, an NGO committed to promoting peace in Africa by this release is calling on all interested parties to be circumspect in their utterances and actions.

we are by this release throwing our unflinching support for the life telecast of the case since if affords all Ghanaians and the world at large the opportunity hear and see for themselves the proceedings so that the verdict as would be delivered would be understood, appreciated, and accepted by all thereby curtailing any misunderstanding that would otherwise had arisen.

To our dear respected Judges of the Supreme Court of the land, we are reminding them of their duty to uphold Professionalism, integrity, justice and fairness since a compromise could spell doom for the Country.

The political parties involved should remember that their refusal to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court could lead to chaos and anarchy. They should not insight their supporters to violence during and after the trials. They should endeavor to calm down tensions. Kenya, having tasted the pain of Civil War has eventually used the Court system to settle the election dispute and prevented yet another possible political unrest that was looming.

The media is urged to play an educative role in this important exercise rather than playing incisive role.

We are calling on all Muslim, Christian and Traditional leaders to use any available platform/gathering to preach peace among the followers most especially the youth.

To the youth, please see yourselves as leaders of today and the future and that your actions or inactions would destroy yourselves.

Ghanaians, let's not only talk about peace, but let's also work for peace. Ghana and Ghanaians as seen as the beacon of hope for African democracy should not lose this pride on the continent.
