MASARA NARZIKI ELECT NEW COUNCIL

Masara N' arziki Farmers Association, a farmer group organization has elected a six member council to steer the affairs for the upcoming farming season.

According to the constitution of the association, it is expected to elect six member council couple with appointment of another six members by the founding organization.

These twelve member team represent the total farmer population annually, in the decision making process as well as its implementation on behalf of the entire association.

According to the farmers they "have observed with keen interest some unique qualities in the new leadership, capable of driving it to a successful 2013 farming season.

This was made known to the media by some of the farmers at the maiden annual general meeting held in Tumu in the upper west region at the weekends.

The meeting was also convey to chart a new path to ensure more cohesion among all stakeholders and to award seven of its outstanding and hardworking groups whose good performance in the last year 2012 saw the association rake in high yields production in their respective zones.

Each group received a tricycle popularly known as motor king and other farm inputs including fertilizers, Matabi knap sac sprayers and weedecides measured for 5 hectares of land for the facilitation of work at the group level, whiles 25 farmers were awarded with matabi knap sac sprayers through a raffle draw.

The durbar brought together 3,500 Members from all their operational areas, stakeholders, and some important dignitaries to take stock of the association's activities during the previous years and trade ideas on how to ensure the welfare of all members under the Masara family

Addressing the function Mr. Luuc Smits reaffirm the association commitment in creating an enabling environment for the association. He reiterated his call for one voice among all members and assured them of a prosperous future if the call was ad heard.

On his part, the chairman of the council Kuoro Robert Hillia Lauded the good policies of Masara N' Arziki and appeal to maize farmers to join the association in the coming year since it was open to all and sundry. He attributed lack of accessible roads in some jurisdiction in their operational areas as challenges facing the association.

Also present at the event were Mr. Marc kok, Managing Director of Wienco Ghana limited, General Manager of Wienco Ghana limited Mr. William Kotey, Chief accountant of Yara Ghana limited Mr. Oben koranteng, secretary of the council, Nana Yaw from Ntrakwa and co chambers and many others.
