The police have begun investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of 49-year old James Adjetey, son of the late Peter Ala Adjetey, former Speaker of Parliament.

The deceased, also known as Jamie Adjetey, one of Joy FM's treasured radio presenters, was discovered dead last Tuesday evening in his room.

The deceased, until his death, often graced airwaves with classic and soothing jazz, old school and R&B tunes.

Jamie was the host of the Multi-Track Show which aired Monday and Wednesday nights as well as Jazz Soul on Thursday afternoons.

His death came at a time another Joy Fm staff, Amos Ballignton Ghanney, died in a motor accident on Monday evening after participating in the station's Easter Soup Kitchen.

Amos was with the Marketing Department.
Chief Operating Officer of Joy FM, Ekyi Quarm, speaking on the Super Morning Show, described Jamie Adjetey as a team player who would be missed by his colleagues, friends and family.

'It is really taking a toll on all of us. We are a family here and it is really a big blow. I am inspired by the way we all put our heads together to keep things going. We are really going to miss him,' he said.

Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati, the Accra Regional Crime Officer who briefed DAILY GUIDE about the death said the Cantonments Police received a report from Larry Adjetey, the eldest of Mr. Ala Adjetey's children last Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. that his younger brother had gone missing for some days.

According Larry, Jamie left their East Cantonments house where he lived with his two sisters on March 29, 2013 and had since not been seen.

This compelled the Police to visit their house that very day to begin their investigations.

Jamie's door was locked when policemen got to their house, and so the door was forced open. The deceased radio presenter was found dead, lying naked on his bed and facing skywards.

Superintendent Adufati said the body was in a complete state of decomposition and so the police had to spray the room with disinfectants before getting close to the corpse.

When the body was examined with the help of some police personnel from Headquarters Crime Scene, there was no mark of violence on him.

The deceased only had in his hand, an inhaler often used by asthmatic patients.

Larry then confirmed to the police that his brother was an asthmatic patient who often used the inhaler anytime he had an attack.

He noted that the body had been sent to the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation, while police continued with their investigations into the circumstances that led to his death.

No person had been arrested so far over the death of the son of the late Peter Ala Adjetey.

Jamie was on air last Thursday evening with his cool music, sources said.
