Half Assini (W/R), March 27, GNA - Senior and junior high schools in Half Assini in the Jomoro District have resumed classes following directives by the executives of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT to members to call off their strike action.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency to the four three JHS and the Half Assini Senior High saw classes in progress with teachers and masters at post.

The Headmaster of the Half Assini Senior High, Mr Kojo Erdjah, told the GNA that classes were going on.

At the Half Assini Catholic JHS, the Headmistress, Madam Elizabeth Ndede Ackah, said all the six teachers of the school had reported for duty.

At the Nana Ayebieh Amihere V Basic School, a teacher said the teachers had resumed duty but most of the children were not in school.

The Headmistress of the Methodist Primary and JSS told the GNA that the teachers were at post but the pupils were absent.

Members of NAGRAT and GNAT embarked on nationwide strike action to back their demand for better condition of service.

The President, Mr John Dramani Mahama personally intervened and urged the teachers to call off their strike action while efforts are made to address their grievances.
