Mr. President, “Thank You Tour To Israel?”

Mr. President, “Thank You Tour To Israel?”

Since the National Democratic Congress NDC made known its decision to sponsor 200 Ghanaian pastors, reverend ministers, seers, prophets, bishops and archbishops on a pilgrimage to Israel, he has received so much flak for first of all putting out that package.

Government spokespersons have come out with the explanation that the country is in fact presently in crisis therefore these ministers of God when sponsored to the Holy Land, Israel to be precise Jerusalem, they will pray for God to grant the country Ghana peace and orderliness.

Some people who supported the idea claim the ministers of God when landed in Jerusalem will exercise their powers in prayers for God to grant the country mercies whiles those who do not support the idea claim the whole exercise will be a waste of money, time and in fact will create religious differences for the government and the country in future.

What others are arguing is that if these ministers of God know how to move the spirit of the lord to bless the country with peace, why are they not doing so in the country except in Jerusalem?

They challenged that the 6 million dollars or the six hundred thousand dollars that would be spent on these 200 ministers could be used to solve some of the country's problems.

In reality the government sponsoring 200 pastors to embark on pilgrimage to Israel under the pretence of going to pray for peace in Ghana does not convince and will never convince any good thinking person rather making fun of the country and make our development partners piss off with us looking at the money involve.

Teachers just called off their strike, intermittent hydro electric power cuts has been destroying business, pipe born water supply has not been the best, fatal accidents occurring everyday due to bad roads, undue delays in payment of salaries of civil servants creating labor apathy and unemployment rate shooting up badly.

At least the 600 million dollars that the government is going to spent on these 200 pastors to go on pilgrimage to Israel could be used to handle one of these aforementioned problems the country is facing so that some how it will enjoy peace.

Sounding a bit biblical let me show the president where he and his ministers can go for peace for the country Ghana.

In Isaiah 54, God promised his people a covenant of peace [shalom]. Chapter 54 verse 10 says,” for the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed: but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the lord that hath mercy on thee”.

But Israel never walked in that covenant of peace consistently because they continued to violate it. The greatest period of [Shalom] which means peace was under King Solomon whose name actually meant peace.

He was the most prosperous king in Israel as for a forty year period Israel lived under that promise of shalom. But then Solomon married other wives and took part in idolatry, and there was a breach or a split from the covenant God had established.

There is no doubt the country Ghana is in crisis as the president boldly admitted during his 56TH Independence Day Anniversary speech on March 6, therefore assembling 200 pastors to go to Jerusalem and pray for peace in Ghana.

But we can also tell the president that his government and for that matter the whole country can never have peace and blessing without being under authority as Isaiah 9:7 points out that “of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.

As I have indicated earlier Israel experienced trouble moments because they refused to stay in line with God's governing authority and everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

The same way one can confidently say that Ghana is experiencing trouble moments because majority of Ghanaians are refusing to stay in line with God's governing authority and everyone is doing whatever he thinks is right in his own eyes.

Jesus Christ came to reverse the curse of being out of covenant and to bring peace, blessing and an abundant life through a new covenant. He brought the authority of the kingdom, full of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

So in order to receive that, the president, his ministers of states, the clergy and the ordinary citizens have to submit to God through his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and to other leaders he puts in authority over us.

It is very clear that when the people's mind are governed by the spirit of God, when they think like saints, when they think good thoughts, and when their minds are not controlled by their flesh and they are submitted to God's authority, they will receive the blessing of God the whole country will be blessed with peace.

It is only by the word of God that can help them to submit to his authority and not be carnally minded people and expect prosperity and peace as according to Romans 8:6-7 which states,” For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

Having said these, it is time for our clergy to point out to the president that his government and for that matter the entire state can only enjoy peace if he and his subjects submit to the authority of God otherwise, he will ship the over 26 million Ghanaians to Jerusalem and pray for peace but there will be no peace in the nation just because of not staying under the authority of God.
