Government has denied ignoring the concerns of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and has promised to address them.

Members of TEWU decided to join the ongoing strike by GNAT and NAGRAT on Wednesday because government had failed to take them serious and was ignoring their concerns.

According to them, they share the same concerns with GNAT and NAGRAT and so deserve to be treated equally.

Speaking to Citi News the Public Affairs Director of the Ministry of Education Paul Krampah has stated that the concerns of teachers regarding the payment of the car maintenance allowance also borders on the demands of TEWU and so their concerns are still being looked at.

He opined “what they should have done was to get in touch with the Ghana Education Service this is because the GES are the employers of all teachers, both teaching and non teaching staff within the GES and it's an agency within the Ministry of Education.”

He explained that GES are the people who negotiate on behalf of all employees within the ministry.

He advised that if there are any cases in the future, they should channel their concerns to the GES.
