A police station, constructed by the Amansie West District Assembly, has been commissioned for Manso-Datano community, to help protect the lives and properties of residents in the community and its environs.

The new police station was constructed at the cost of GH¢14,000 from the Assembly's District Development Fund.

It has since last week Thursday, been handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyenin, by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Charles Oti Prempeh.

In a related development, the DCE and the Ashanti Regional Police Commander have broken the grounds for the construction of yet another new police station at Manso-Tontokrom.

It is the third police station to be constructed by the Assembly in the last three years, and was also funded through the District Development Fund (DDF).

The DCE said the project would be completed in the next six months.

DCOP Augustine Gyenin commended the DCE and the Assembly for prioritising security in the area, and appealed to the residents to give their maximum support to the personnel to protect them and their properties, especially when the district, as a whole, had become a galamsey dominated operations area, a situation which attracts for armed robbers and other social vices, and calls for increased security in the area.

Nana Kwadwo Tonto, Odikro of Tontokrom, commended the DCE for providing a police station for the community.
