Parliament To Query Water And Housing Minister Over Expired Chemicals

Parliament is to query the Water Resources, Works and Housing minister and other water stakeholders in the coming days over the state of the sector.

Critical among the issues to be discussed is the recent controversy over the importation of expired water treatment chemicals.

A probe has revealed that 0.7 percent of the chemical was used despite earlier denial by the Ghana water company.

Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee on water David Asumeng told XYZ News in an interview that the scandal betrays the endemic corruption in the water sector.

The Shai Osu Doku MP added that government must discontinue the allocation of funds to stakeholders in the sector who don't have the welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian at heart.
