Chief appeals for more facilities for Ahafoman Senior High School

Goaso (B/A), March 7, GNA - Nana Akwasi Baffour Bosomprah, Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Area in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has appealed for more infrastructure for Ahafoman Senior High School at Goaso.

He said the population of students had increased to 1,400 and, therefore, required additional classrooms, dormitories and other facilities.

In addition the school should be fenced to prevent students from running away from classes and from  encroachment as well as being used as a footpath by the people.

Nana Bosomprah made the appeal when Mr Eric Opoku, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, paid a courtesy call on him at Goaso last Monday.

It was part of a programme drawn by the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to formally introduce Mr Opoku to the paramount chiefs of the region.

He congratulated Mr Opoku, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, and expressed  optimism that as a former deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, he was conversant with the political terrain and would improve on the performance of his predecessor, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo.

Nana Bosomprah appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to retain Alhaji Mohammed Doku, Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive, because the chiefs and people had appreciated his work over the period.

Mr Opoku assured Nana Bosomprah and the people of his readiness to provide them with the needed assistance.

He said Ahafoman Senior High School was his alma mater and in 2008 was provided with additional dormitory and a six-unit classroom block and that efforts would be made to improve the infrastructure of all the educational institutions in the region.

At Kukuom in the Asunafo South District, Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi II, Omanhene of Kukuom Traditional Area, promised to cooperate with Mr Opoku during his tenure of office.

Osahene Aterkyi, immediate past President of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, said currently there were 54 chieftaincy disputes in the region and efforts should be made to resolve them for accelerated socio-economic development.

He announced that roads in the area were in deplorable state and needed rehabilitation.

At Mim Okoforobour, Dr Yaw Adjei, Omanhene of Mim Traditional Area, complained about the deplorable roads in the area and appealed to Mr Opoku for assistance.
