Accra, March 6, GNA - Gambia Bird Airline, a regional airline, which began operations in Ghana in October 2012, on Tuesday launched bi-weekly direct flights from Accra to Bamako, capital city of Mali.

The Bamako flights will be available every Tuesday and Thursdays.

Mr. Valentine Banjakey, Public Relations Representative for Gambia Bird told the GNA that the commencement of the Bamako flight was in line with the airline's quest to connect West Africa with direct flights.

The airline has been operating flights to most cities in West Africa, including direct and indirect flights from Accra to Banjul, Monrovia, Freetown, London-Gatwick and Barcelona.

To commemorate the launch, Gambia Bird offered 40 free tickets to Bamako for passengers travelling on Tuesday on a first come first served basis.

Mr. Banjakey said the airline would launch more routes from Accra by April or May 2013 to other cities in West Africa, probably Lagos and Douala.

'Aviation in Africa has not always been easy to deal with, especially for passengers, who are the most important people, from reliability factors: whether flights are on time or not, safety factors: whether the aircrafts are safe enough and also services provided on-board and Gambia bird's concern is to plug those holes.

"We emphasize safety, reliability and exceptional service and are committed to help make aviation in Africa better, thus although Gambia Bird flies to London and Barcelona, its biggest concentration is in West Africa.' He stated.

The airline offers customers comfortable and excellent on board services including friendly crew and a wide range of African cuisine.

Mr. Banjakey also noted Ghana is a beautiful country likewise its capital city Accra, thus Gambia Bird was committed to investing and succeeding in Ghana.

'Gambia Bird has enjoyed some success in Ghana since starting operations and that is why we want to expand with the introduction of new routes from Accra' he added.
