Only in Ghana

Sometimes am tempted to think am dilutional because of certain weird happenings within the Ghanaian society. But apparently am not because the issues are real . I had the rude shock of my life this week when I was looking for the contact information to the Ga South District Assembly . So I search the internet and found the number to the office but the number seem like a cell phone number so I confirmed with my 18year daughter that the number I found seem very funny and its not a land line. This is where sometimes I think am dilutional because so many things have changed and I cannot be hundred percent sure of institutional policies and arrangements regarding communication. Last year I was in Ghana and visited a friend in a government establishment and to my surprise the receptionist had the television and the DVD on watching a Nigerian movies so when I came across this cell phone number I was hesitant at first I thought in

Ghana every office operate differently and maybe the asssembly is modernising but I was wrong

On Friday I called the number and to my disbelieve a gentle man answered the phone .He asked me of my identity ,I was unsure because by my unbringing and training, I know if you call an institution the receptionist will answer and identify the institution.

It was absurd, if not annoying that this gentleman was very bold and confident by telling me, he has put his personal number on the site ,and if there was anything he could help me do. I went further to establish the fact that I was calling from abroad and would like to talk to the district engineer or the chief executive to which he said he did not know the numbers to their offices but he could help me ,and should sent my representative to see him not the officialdom.

This is someone who has listed his personal cell phone number on the internet, to falsely represent the Ga South District Assembly office under the pretence of defrauding unsuspecting citizens who want to do business with the assembly.

This man must be exposed before he goes further, this is someone who does not even know the phone numbers to the site engineer or the office and all he wants to do is to front for people and take money from them.

Am therefore ,appealing to the Minister of Local Government to update the contacts numbers of all the assemblies to stop people of shady and suspicious character from embarassing them in the future. This is very bad and believe a lot of people might have fallen victim to this man who does not even know the numbers to the main office and therefore front for people.

This can only happen in Ghana where an individual will be allow to list his private cell phone number to represent an institution.
