Looking for SATISFACTION IN WRONG PLACES!!! John 4:1
19.01.2013 LISTEN

When I was in Africa, I dreamed of coming to America as the means to end all my woes I was dealing with in Africa. After coming to America, I quickly realized that that my perception and dreams were completely false.

Every human being has a deep yearning for satisfaction. Of cause every person has a way of defining what will satisfy him or her.

But where we find our deepest satisfaction is another thing all together. Perhaps you might be thinking that acquiring more wealth or having a quality education will satisfy and make you happier. You may be thinking that getting a partner will solve my problems

. All those things out there, we all try as much as we could to get them. Although, these elements are indispensable and necessary in life and without them life sometime become burdensome

. I am not naive to state that those things are not important. But let us be honest, after we have achieved those ambitions in life, we still feel empty inside and wondering what is next to our ambitions. The discovery of the person of Christ is the piece of the puzzle to solve our deepest longing of satisfaction in life.

THE SATISFACTION WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN LIFE IS NOT OUT THERE.

The story of the woman at the Well reveals to us that the deepest longing for satisfaction in this mortal life can only be satisfied by the one who created us.

We are made for Him and Jesus said that without Him you and I can not do anything. One of the characteristics of water is to quench our thirst. Jesus used water and thirst as a symbol to illustrate how our deepest longing could be satisfied.

The woman was looking for satisfaction but she was looking for it at a wrong place. Jesus asked the woman at the well, where is your husband?

That question was a serious confrontation posed by Jesus to the woman about where she was trying to find life satisfaction. The Omniscient God (the one who has unlimited knowledge about past, present, and future) revealed to the woman that she had had five husbands and the one she was having at that particular time was not her husband. The woman was looking for satisfaction in men.

Jesus Christ was pointing to you and me that our deepest longing can only be met by the third person of the Trinity. The woman at the well was a typical example of how we all try to find satisfaction in something out there rather than the one who created us for Himself.

The woman at the well was men but yours might be women, fame, riches and recognition. Are you looking for satisfaction in life our there? Whatever ambitions you have right now after you have reached there, you would quickly realize that you need more. It is not out there and will never be there.

THE SATISFACTION YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS INSIDE YOU.

Jesus made it clear to the woman at the well that he who believes in Him (Jesus) in that person shall flow rivers of living waters. Jesus Christ is not only the source of our satisfaction but He is also the means by which our deepest yearnings are met.

Satisfaction in life is not a thing but it is who you are. It is life transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit of God. It is a process whereby God changes the dispositions of heart and make us conform to the image of His son Jesus Christ. It is where we find our satisfaction in Him and not anything out there. AMEN.
