Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on Ghanaians to pray for God's guidance as they usher in the year 2013.

Mr. Kufuor also asked Ghanaians to thank God for keeping the nation at peace this year.

Former President Kufuor, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with Adom FM, prayed that God's plans for the country in the coming will be in the best interest of the country.

Meanwhile, First Lady Lordina Mahama has tasked Ghanaians to be benevolent to the disadvantaged in the society so they do not feel neglected in the Yuletide celebrations.

According to a statement released by the First Lady on Christmas Day, she said "the yuletide offers Ghanaians another opportunity to unite, come together and care for each other".

“Over the years I have spent every single Christmas with inmates of various orphanages across the country and also other vulnerable groups, and I know that despite government interventions, we must also support each other,” the statement noted.

Mrs. Mahama asked Ghanaians to also use the occasion of the yuletide to pray and thank God for his blessings over Ghana and for the peaceful and successful elections.
