The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Dan Botwe says Kofi Wayo is an ordinary member of the NPP like anybody else. “The only thing is that he was our Parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East constituency in 2000, apart from that there is nothing special about him”.
Mr Botwe who was reacting to reports that Kofi Wayo has defected to the PNC said that as far as the NPP is concerned, Kofi Wayo has no special position in the party, and wondered why people should think that the exit of such a person would have any adverse effects on the fortunes of the party.
He noted that the NPP as a democratic party believes in freedom of association and therefore has nothing to lose if Mr Wayo defects to another party. Mr Botwe noted that if the media is enthused about Mr Wayo because he had been to America and have decided to popularize him, that’s their own problem, but as far as the NPP is concerned, he is nobody.
