Before you vote on December 7

Before you vote on December 7
30.11.2012 LISTEN

The Founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley, in one of his commentaries to the early christians, encouraged and motivated electorates in England to be guided by four important tips. I therefore urge all Ghanaians registered voters, undecided, uninformed and all christians alike to do the same on Friday December 7 2012 in both the Presidential and parliamentary elections.

1, DO PROPER HOME WORK -consider and compare your, circumstances and livestyle and that of the politicians you voted into office four years ago in your constituency and tell me if the person has made any difference in your life to warrant another term through your vote. That should make you aware that they went there to seek his or her selfish interest, whether your chidren who are the future asset of the country have made any progress with education and how ecomonical has it been for the parents to afford their education,my daughter gained an admission to one of the prestigious SSS in Kumasi in 2010 but she was scheduled to travelled abroad and therefore was admitted to Holy Trinity High School in Accra and believe me for almost a year my daughter never sat in a proper classroom even though I had paid the building levy.

These politician, mislead the undecided, uninformed and sometimes highly intelligent and intellectuals who sell their conscience because of party affiliation. These politicians have little respect for the electorates who vote them into office, Remember that most of them neglect their constituents until close to the next elections then they rush to their communities with roofing sheets, bicycles, rice ,oil, tooth paste and party Tshirts to influence their decisions, taking undue advantage of the fact that most of the Ghanaian electorates are uninformed . My friend Emmanuel whose relations is a Minister of State, visited him from outside the country, he realised that he was stock piling all kinds of groceries which we refer to as essential commodities including wax prints ,bikes, roofing sheets among many others. My friend became curious and asked who were those items. for but to his shock and surprise, the Minister replied don't you realised that elections is around the corner. He went on to add that the Ghanaian electorates once they get their stomach full, you are good instead of building them infrastructure including schools, clinics library, clean water and roads. Emmanuel returned to the USA and has not yet recovered from the notion of this evil and wicked politician ,because Ghana as a country and the future generation are the losers. How many of our over 230 Members of Parliament{MPs} have been able to help build a small community clinic, day care or an infrastructure in his or her memory to justify their continue representation of their electorates. CNN Anchor from the Pentagone Candy Crowly said that politics is about changing lives and not enriching one self. Before you vote consider the fact that the Founder of one of the political parties as accused his on party of corruption, his wife has also used various platforms to campaign against the party she helped formed and these should serve as a reminder to voters that both parents have disown their child so those of us who are not blood relations should not care because there is no oe who loves a child more than their biological parents no matter how you look at the situation.

2,NEVER SPEAK POORLY ABOUT YOUR OPPONENTS-Its very sad and unfortunate the manner some politicians peddle falsehood about their opponents ,assasinate their character, instead of discussing issues of national importance and advancing the country. Ghana, Malaysia ,South Korea gained independence around the same time but because of pragmatic and bold political decisions NOT LIES or FALSEHOOD, today some of these countries are building ships, cars and,a host of electronics while Ghana for instance is yet to add proper value to our raw cocoa to turn it into commodity generating international currency. Take the glut from the tomatoe farmers in the Northern Region who toil all day and at the end of the day has no marketing outlet, when politicians could lobby or put their heads together to find a solution to enhance the Pwalugu Tomato Factory. All over the Ghanaian airwaves its foul language galore just because someone from the political divide has a divergent opinion on an issue that affect the well being of Ghanaians. Justify stupidity and corruption ,insuate against all churches. The Catholic , Methodist, Presbyterian ,and the International Central Gospel churches have all been victims of the falsehood, insults and intimidation from some gangsters who believe Ghana belong to only a selected few who have the right to air their views or opinions with support from people who should know better. Facts like the judgement payment ,the rot at Ghana Investment Promotion Council ,issues raised by Martin Amidu, the circumstances under which money were going to be paid to disgraced Ishmael Yamson and some other political movement are some of the reasons to consider before voting. The NG 20,000 check issued to the board chairman of GIPC is an economic crime which should be investigated because such huge sum of money could build a day care or help to shape a community. When you raise an issue based on facts you are not speaking poorly about your oppenents.

What I know is that in the United States politicians fight to come to serve and do not see politics as a means to get rich and fame .About ninety percent of those elected really give off their best and live by their campaign promise. Unlike Ghana your political opponent is see

3,DO NOT LET YOUR HEART BECOME HARD ON PERSONS WHO DO NOT VOTE FOR YOU. Within the same party, persons who were seeking to represent their constituency were alleged to have used every means, including bribing, intimidating delegates, using state machinery among others to be elected, thereby forcing a many of them to go independent.Ministers of State who contested sitting MPs were all accused of using state funds for their campaign . People should campaign on issues and if your opponent put out there a campaign message we should try to convince voters we can do better and not condemn it or tell electorates is unachievable.

4, FOCUS ON FAITH AND HOPE, electorates, especially christians know that hope is a feeling that events will turn out for the better and faith is what carried all the early prophets who kept their faith in God and he surely opened the way for them.

I therefore, encourage Ghanaians, to consider the four issues before they casting their vote for the corrupt politicians who have not made any significant impact on tthe community or society but come back to you with T shirts, rice, oil, roofing sheet and money desperate for your vote.
