This year 2012, the United Nations marks 67 years of existence. To build momentum for the Day, the UN System in Kenya has organized a UN4U Outreach Campaign, an educational programme which underlines the role and objectives of the UN.

On 17 and 18 October 2012, the system will reach out to youth groups in Baba Dogo and Ruiru to interact with the young people at a personal level, demystify and help develop positive perceptions about the work of the UN in Kenya

Globally and in Kenya specifically, youth are the largest group with unprecedented potential to spur this country to peace and development. According to the UN Secretary-General, “Youth are a transformative force; they are active, resourceful and enthusiastic agents of change…” Given that young people are a priority for the Organization and key to development, their participation in commemorating the Day, is critical.
