Trede (Ash), Oct. 03, GNA – Massive encroachment on lands belonging to the Trede Senior High Technical School in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District has become a major worry to the school authorities.

More than a-half of the 24-acre stretch of land have already been seized by developers and this, the Headmistress, Mrs Elizabeth Osei, said if not checked, could affect the expansion of the SHS.

The encroachers were making things very difficult for both the students and teachers, she said, saying the school had also been turned into a thoroughfare, something that was a bother to teaching and learning.

Mrs Osei, who conducted the Ghana News Agency (GNA) round to inspect the illegal structures that were fast springing up, appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene to restore some sanity.

Those behind the sale of the land, she said, must be called to order.

Mr Tony Nyame, the District Chief Executive (DCE), shared the sentiments and vowed to act decisively to tackle the unhealthy situation.

The District Assembly had constituted a technical committee to investigate the encroachment on all school lands in the area and its recommendations would be implemented to the letter, he said.

The Head of the Trede Royal Family (Abusuapanin), Opanin Darko Mensah, warned the encroachers to vacate the land in their own interest.
