Sagnarigu youth endorses DCE nominee

Tamale, Sept 22, GNA – Youth groups in the Sagnarigu District have hailed the nomination of Alhaji Ibrahim Yussif Andani as the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for the newly created district, saying he was the best candidate fit for the job.

They also expressed appreciation to the Government for giving them the district, which they said would speed up development in the area and urged all to rally behind the nominee.

The nominee was among 30 others, who were nominated by the President on Thursday to occupy the newly created districts that were created a couple of months ago. Until his nomination, Alhaji Andani was the Tamale Central Constituency Chairman of the NDC.

“We want to state categorically that the government has not done a mistake by the nomination because we are in a political era and need political experience persons to lead government businesses in our local areas, especially in the course of decentralization and good governance”, they youth said.

The Sagnarigu youth expressed these views in Tamale on Friday at a press conference address by Adam Alhassan, Choggu-Yapalsi Youth Chief, stating that Alhaji Andani was a native of the area whose grandparents occupied the Choggu and Cheferegu skins which forms part of the Sagnarigu District.

The youth said the Sagnarigu district has 23 electoral areas covered by two great chiefs of Dagbon and needed someone who understands the culture and traditions of the people to unite them all.

They, therefore, called on all to declare their unflinching support to the nominee for the development and progress of the area and appealed to the Assembly Members in the area to endorse him.

In a related development, Alhaji Mohammed Abio, the Northern Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme, had appealed to the people in the district, especially the youth to throw their weight behind the nominee.

He said the people must take advantage of the opportunity given to them by the government in creating a district for them to ensure peace and unity needed to enhance development.
