Koforidua, Sept. 19, GNA - Mr Victor Smith, the Eastern Regional Minister, has asked public servants not to allow their political considerations to cloud their judgment whiles working for the government of the day.

He said some public servants deliberately put obstacles in government's efforts due to the fact that they do not agree with it thus causing underdevelopment in the country.

Mr Smith said this when he met with Heads of Department in the New Juaben Municipality as part of his familiarization tour to the Municipality.

The Minister said there was the need for public servants to support policies and programmes of government to ensure the development of the country.

Mr Smith said if public servants pursue their own personal intentions, they would not help the country to move forward as it should and that the development of every country was the responsibility of the government and its public servants who need to rally round the “government of the day” in the implementation of its policies and programmes.

The Minister later inspected ongoing projects and commended some of the contractors for doing good work.

The 48 Regiment of the Engineering Department of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) was also commended by the Minister who appealed to other security agencies to follow the example of the GAF.

Mr Smith inspected the Oyoko community clinic, classroom blocks at the Koforidua Technical Institute, Rev. Father Lemenns R/C School at Srodae, and Presbyterian primary School at Jumapo.

Others were Classroom block with boys and girls dormitories with its ancillary facilities for the New Juaben Senior High School, the Assembly's block factory and the Koforidua Zongo township roads.

Mr Smith then visited the Pentoawala blocks of stores and offices and New Accra Lorry Park and the block store and offices, where he met with the transport unions and drivers.
