GLOMEF LAUNCHES NATIONAL PEACE CAMPAIGN TOMORROW

A national peace campaign dubbed “Let There Be Peace 2012 Campaign” will be launched tomorrow, Friday 21st September, 2012 at Odumase, the District Capital of Sunyani West in the Brong-Ahafo region.

The launch which forms part of activities making this year's International Day of Peace is the initiative of Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF) in collaboration with Coalition of Christian Youth Against Electoral Violence (CCYAEV), Raleigh Ghana, Right Path Africa and Glorious Victory Ministry.

This was contained in a statement signed by the CEO of GLOMEF, Raphael Godlove Ahenu Jr. and the Chairperson of CCYAEV, Sam Biako.

The statement declared “as a country we need a future where natural resources are protected and valued rather used to finance wars, where children can be educated at school and not recruited into armies, where economic and social inequalities are resolved through dialogue instead of violence”.

The statement therefore appealed to all Presidential Candidates contesting the December elections to accept electoral defeat in a good faith if they lose to avoid a civil war in Ghana.

According to the statement, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye - Marfo and the MP for Sunyani West, Ignatius Baffour Awuah are expected to launch the campaign.

Other dignitaries expected at the function include the Queen Mother of Odumase Number one, Nana Abena Boatemaa, the Queen mother of Awuah –Dumase, the Clergy, the Deputy Regional Director of NCCE, Michael Amponsah, and the Deputy Regional Director of Electoral Commission, Samuel Boadu, among others.

The statement further called on the general public especially the youth to attend the launching which is scheduled to take place at Odumase Church of Pentecost Central Assembly at 3:00 pm instead of 9:00 am in the morning.
