Residents in the Tamale Metropolis are threatening to embark on a massive demonstration against the management of Northern Electricity Department Company on what they termed as insensitivity on the part of the service provided.
VRA/NEDCO over the past month are embarking on an exercise in the metropolis to replace existing meters with a new pre-paid cards but residents says the tariffs on the pre-paid card will bring untold hardship to them and urged that, the service provider withdraw from the exercise.
Meanwhile, some areas in the metropolis, including, Changli, Aboubo, Zogbeli, Lamashegu, Tishegu, Sabonjiba and others are threatening workers of VRA/NEDCO not to venture into their area to replace the old meters.
In another development, the Concern Citizen of Tamale in a statement has also mull over the issue and called on the management of VRA/NEDCO to halt the exercise to bring sanity in the Metropolis.
Meanwhile, officials of VRA/NEDCO have refuse to comment on the issue.

Are we going into the colonial ages or in a progressive mode ? This is a similar method that the British use in old houses axcept they use cash to slot the meters . It is up to our govt to stop this process but once they take the bribes , the sky is the limit for foreign companies .
