Accra, Sept 5, GNA - The State Insurance Company (SIC) has presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 to the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG) as contribution towards the Association's education campaigns.

Mrs Doris Awo Nkani, Acting Managing Director of SIC, who presented the cheque, said the company would continue to promote the interest of the contractors by providing the needed insurances at the most competitive prices.

In addition, she said SIC would also support the Association in its quest to build a strong image and reposition itself as an efficient and major player in the country's infrastructure development efforts.

“The partnership arrangement struck between the Association of Building Engineers and Contractors and SIC Insurance Company is for our mutual benefit,” Mrs Nkani said, adding that the company would stand by them through all times.

To deepen their relationship, the two institutions had already signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the business interest of each other.

Receiving the cheque, Mr. Rockson Dogbegah, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Association, said the contractors were undertaking various initiatives to sanitize and enhance the contribution of members to the country's development efforts.

As part of the initiative, he said, the Association was sensitizing members on the need for excellent and quality service delivery and had started the process of getting government to set up a regulator for the industry.

Mr Dogbegah said the non-attention to the plight of contractors could lead to the collapse of the construction industry hence the urge for a deliberate action to be part of the development agenda.

He said the Association cherished the relationship with SIC and appealed to the company to be more customer focused by interacting more with the contractors.

In a related development, Royal Aluminium Systems has presented a cheque for GH¢15,000 to the Association towards the second excellence awards celebration.

Mr Dogbegah said the presentation was an indication of deep support and commitment of Royal Aluminium Systems to the construction industry in the country.
