Kumasi, Aug 30, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama has been given an overwhelming endorsement by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to become the flag bearer of the party for the December 2012 presidential election.
The Deputy Chairman in charge of operations of the Electoral Commission, Kwadwo Sarfo-Kantanka, said 99.5 per cent of delegates at the NDC's special delegates' conference in Kumasi voted "yes" to endorse President Mahama.
The special conference became necessary following the sudden death on July 24 of President John Evans Atta Mills, who was the presidential candidate of the NDC.
The National Executive Committee nominated President Mahama as the sole candidate, but he needed to win the majority of votes by delegates.
