The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul has challenged the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to provide an alternative education policy to counter the NPP's free senior high school (SHS) policy.

Nitiwul maintained that the NDC's skepticism is borne out of ignorance and lack of vision to improve the country's educational sector.

“If you [NDC] don't have an alternative, please join Nana Akufo-Addo or copy him like what you did with SADA,” he said.

The NPP flag-bearer at the Institute of Economic Affairs' (IEA) organized Evening Encounter on Tuesday, provided an estimated cost of GH¢78 million to implement his flagship free SHS policy from the 2013/2014 academic year if voted as president.

But the ruling party has questioned the veracity of what they term 'a vote buying policy' by the NPP ahead of the December general elections.

However on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Dominic Nitiwul expressed dismay at the NDC's stance against what he says is a transformational education policy.

"It shocks me that NDC as a social democratic party will seek to shoot down free education,” he added.

Bimbilla MP stated that the NDC has demonstrated that paying hideous sums of money to it cronies as judgement debts is important than providing free education to the country's future leaders.

He stressed that the NPP flag-bear; Nana Akufo-Addo is unperturbed by the ruling party's criticisms but remain committed to implementing the free SHS policy, therefore if the NDC disagrees “it's their own headache”.

“Nana Addo has thrown a challenge to provide free education and to ensure that every child has an opportunity to go to school whether from the North, South, East or West”.

Dominic Nitiwul said Ghanaians will be the best judges and vote massively for the NPP and a transformational leader like Nana Akufo-Addo to change their lives.
