CPP leaders chase parliamentary seats

The leadership of Convention People's Party has signified their seriousness on the parliamentary front, with the confirmation of National Chairperson and incumbent MP, Samia Yaba Nkrumah as the party's Parliamentary candidate for the Jomoro constituency.

The CPP Chair spearheads a list of party Leaders chasing Parliamentary seats. The list includes 1st National Vice Chair Susan Adu-Amankwah, CPP Candidate for Tema West, National Organiser Abu Forgor chasing Damongo, his two National Deputy Organisers Rashid Alao and Mamshe Omar Bawa, chasing Akan in the Volta Region and Adetan in Greater Accra respectively.

The 2nd and 3rd National Vice Chairpersons are chasing other seats.

This comes on the back of an already serious intent on the presidential battle signaled by CPP Presidential Candidate Dr Abu Sakara.

The Jomoro acclamation Sunday 19th August, 2012, was supervised by the Electoral Commission with women and the youth playing key roles.

The Jomoro MP's achievements were captured in a colourful brochure entitled “Making a Difference”. These achievements include building 6 new schools; Refurbishing and assisting 14 other schools; Supporting and sponsoring close to 900 students to pursue further education; Rehabilitation of 3 Community Health Posts; Constructing various facilities and assisting 6 Clinics; Small Town Water Projects in 3 Communities; Constructed 4 new mechanized boreholes; 25 boreholes in 25 communities; Constructed toilet facilities.

She is credited for introducing Microfinance scheme to provide small loans to families – currently has 10,000 clients; assisted many women to start businesses in their communities; facilitated the provision of electricity to 29 communities; facilitated electricity expansion to 7 communities; Electricity upgrade to 7 communities; Re-shaped several community roads including the 10km Ekebaku – Tikobo No 1 coastal road; Constructed a modern market for Egbazo Community.

Samia is also said to have made contributions to the community including cash donations, water filters, audio-visual equipment to schools, bags of cement, footballs and jerseys as well as securing a $1,000,000 grant from the Indian Government for the building of a Vocational and Technical Centre.
