
Kumasi, Aug.19, GNA – Dr Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister has appealed to Muslims to help promote the unity of purpose and understanding the country is enjoying, irrespective of political, religious and ethnic differences.
He said irrespective of their political, ethnic and religious differences, there is the need for them to do their best to ensure that the unity and love achieved so far would be sustained at all levels before, during and after the December polls.
Dr. Agyeman-Mensah said this when he joined hundreds of Muslims at the central mosque to mark the end of the Eid-ul-Fitr, (the 30 days fasting) in Kumasi on Sunday.
He congratulated them for their fasting and prayers.
The Regional Minister hoped that they would continue to pray for the growth and development of the nation.
Sheikh Abdul-Mumin Harun, the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, who led the prayers in a sermon, advised them to remain pure in heart and always ensure peace, love and unity in their communities.
He urged them to be self-disciplined and lead exemplary lives to attract more people into the religion.
The Chief Imam asked the youth to be wary of Politicians, who would try to use them for their parochial and selfish interests.
The representative of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu, III, Chief Priest, appealed to Muslim youth to be law-abiding and always exhibit a high sense of responsibility in their lives.
