Kumasi, Aug 19, GNA – Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, Ashanti Regional Chief Imam of the Ahlussuna Wal Jama'a, has stressed the need for Muslim parents to give quality education to their children.
He said the education of children, especially the girl-child, would enable them to play meaningful roles in the socio-economic development of the country.
Sheikh Mohammed said it was also incumbent on them as parents to nurture their children to be God-fearing and to live decent and disciplined lives.
He was addressing members of the Ahlussuna Wal Jama'a at an open air prayer at Old Tafo in Kumasi to mark the Eid-ul Fitr.
He advised the youth to be wary of some politicians, who would like to use money to influence them to cause violence and disturb the peace and democratic dispensation of the country.
The Regional Chief Imam urged them to make positive contributions towards the development of the nation and also honour their obligations to the state by initiating more projects for their communities to improve their standard of living.
Sheikh Mohammed urged them to preach the message of peace before, during and after the 2012 polls.
Special prayers were offered for the nation to ensure peace and stability.
