Hannah Tetteh leading President. Mahama to exchange greetings with Chiefs

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday disclosed that plans were underway for the Chinese Government to construct the Cape Coast Sports Stadium for free and name it after the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

He added that government would soon cut the sod for the stadium and the Cape Coast Kotokuraba Market since the two projects were very dear to the heart of the late President Mills.

According to him, all the documents and designs of the two projects were on his desk and would soon be signed for contractors to commence work.

President Mahama said this when he started his nationwide tour to thank Ghanaians for their support during the period of mourning of the late president.

Mr Mahama noted that he started the tour in the region because the late president hailed from that place.

He said the region had lost a great son and that it should take him as its son, adding that although that region had lost a great son, it had another son in him.

President Mahama promised to complete all the uncompleted projects initiated by the late president.

He assured Ghanaians of peaceful election as the late president was a peaceful man.

He thanked all political parties for their support during the death of President Mills

Several supporters from the ruling party as well as Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives trooped to the Cape Coast Jubilee Park to cheer him up.

The people, dressed in NDC party colours, amidst drumming and dancing through the principal streets of Cape Coast, later converged on the park.

The president of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kweku Ewusie, promised that the chiefs in the region would support the NDC government to win the upcoming general elections.

Daasebre Ewusie, a Council of State member, stressed the need for politicians to avoid politics of insults to ensure total unity in the country.

The president and his entourage earlier visited Kasoa, Mankessim and Cape Coast markets where he interacted with some traders.
