The funeral planning committee of late President John Evans Atta Mills which received several donations from organizations and individuals has announced that it will be distributing the left over items to some orphanages and needy institutions in Accra.

Some of the left over items to be distributed are 100 crates of eggs, flour, cartons of fish, 308 cartons of water, 14 cows, cartons of Indomie and Beverages.

Among the orphanages and institutions the committee selected to receive the items are HEALTHPage Ghana, Osu Children's Home, office of the Chief Imam, the Legion Village, Weija Leprosarium, Akropong School for the Blind, Dzorwulu Special School and School for the Deaf.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on behalf of the funeral planning committee, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah , Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development said the rationale behind the distribution was that when the late president was alive he usually gave his salary and donations to such institutions, adding, 'So it is appropriate the left over items donated by the general public to support the late president funeral be given back to the needy in our society.

'It is in keeping with the character and nature of our late president and current president and in the spirit of brotherly love and looking out for the interest of one another that the left over items are being shared,' he added.

Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah said some of the items the funeral planning committee received were used to serve several visiting dignitaries and the general public who attended the funeral.

He expressed gratitude to the numerous institutions and individuals who made generous donations in cash and in kind towards the funeral.

Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah also applauded Ghanaians for their massive show of support during the funeral of the late President.
