Two die in separate accidents in Upper West Region

Wa, Aug. 17, GNA – Two men lost their lives in two separate accidents in six days at Wa and Kaleo involving motor tricycles and buse that have become dominant killers on the roads of the Upper West Region and the Wa Municipality especially.

Fifty-year-old Issahaku Ahmed, an Arabic teacher, was killed by a motor tricycle near the Jubilee Park in Wa on August 15 while Aba-iyele Yelyeni, 55, died on the Wa/ Kaleo road when a bus knocked him down on August 9.

The Upper West Regional Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit told the GNA in Wa that the tricycle was ridden by 27-year-old Samson Suraj while the Ssangyong Minibus was driven by 26-year-old Joseph Kansumanaa.

Suraj, who was riding a motor tricycle, knocked down the victim who was on a motorbike.

The Command said the bus driver was moving towards Kaleo and knocked down the victim in his attempt to cross the road.

Kansumanaa was put before the Wa Magistrate Court and remanded into police custody to assist in investigations and Suraj has been granted a police enquiry bail.
