Residents of Hohoe observes President Mills's funeral

Hohoe, Aug. 10, GNA – The Hohoe township has become quiet, economic activities were almost non-existent, and many residents remained indoors to watch on television the burial ceremony of President John Evans Atta Mills at the Independence Square, Accra, on Friday.

The streets were virtually empty with fewer taxis moving and major shops, including Melcom, and food joints were closed as at 1000 hours.

Owners of the few shops were watching the ceremony on television in their shops and had fewer or no customers to attend to.

Mr Evans Agbemadu, Manager of Global Ultimate Ventures, told the Ghana News Agency that he was not at his store to engage in economic activities, but rather he was expecting some goods from his suppliers.

He said the late President Mills would be remembered for promoting peace and for his humility.

Kofi Adutor, a taxi driver, said the day was not busy but there were “occasional pick-and-drops.”

At the main Hohoe Lorry Station, it was taking relatively longer time for vehicles to get full of passengers.
