
Sekondi, Aug. 10, GNA - Thousands of mourners on Friday gathered at the forecourt of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to take part in a wreath-laying ceremony and to pay their last respects to the late President Mills.
Captain Anthony Cudjoe (RTD), the Metropolitan Chief Executive, was the first to lay a wreath on behalf of the Assembly followed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Ransford Ninson, the Western Regional Police Commander for the security agencies.
Nana Mozu, Queenmother of the Apremdo traditional area also laid a wreath on behalf of the traditional authorities while a representative from the public also laid one.
The last Post sounded whiles dirges were also sang in respect of the departed head of state.
Lawyer Ebenezer Kwaitoo, President of the Western Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association, in a tribute said the late President Mills, as a teacher, inculcated good values into most of his students and had served as a yardstick of excellence for most lawyers.
Later on, mourners at the Jubilee ground filed pass a decorated portrait of the late president to pay their last respects.
