Government Agencies and Departments should this week begin accessing funds from the Finance Ministry to support their spending plans for the next half of this year.

This follows the approval of government's 2.6 billion supplementary budget by parliament last Friday. About half of the amount is expected to be used to subsidize utilities and also support the operations of the National Petroleum Authority and GETFUND.

The Finance Ministry expects to generate the funds from taxes, grants, incomes and fees.

Government is this year hoping to spend a little over 21 billion Ghana cedis on public wages and salaries, public services maintenance and administration and investment infrastructure.
