Members of the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) have learnt with great shock and deep regret the sudden passing on of H.E. President John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana.
I am conveying the heartfelt condolences of the entire membership of COHHETI to the people of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress, the former first lady, Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills and the entire family of the former president.
May the Almighty God grant us the strength and courage to bear the loss of an illustrious son.
For us members of COHHETI, the late president will forever be remembered for his role in enhancing the welfare and quality of our Health Training Institutions. In recognition of the vital role Health Training Institutions are playing to produce quality health personnel for the Better Ghana Agenda, President John Evans Atta-Mills did not hesitate to approve the procurement and distribution of 250 vehicles to Health Training Institutions in Ghana to enhance teaching and learning.
As a seasoned administrator, we have lost a Mentor. As an internationally recognized scholar, we have lost a teacher. As the father of the nation, he often addressed Ghanaians as “my bothers and sisters”. In deed, we have lost a counselor and a guardian.
His passing away comes at a time when members of COHHETI, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, are crafting and executing a new vision to position the Health Training Institutions as centres of academic excellence for quality training of health personnel. As we mourn our late president we at the same time celebrate him as a shining example of what COHHETI advocates for- that all persons in Ghana shall live healthy lives so that Ghana can be described as A Healthier Nation.
I urge all COHHETI members to stand firm and institutionalize the academic, leadership and managerial ideals of the Late President.
It is our prayer that the good Lord will grant President John Dramani Mahama a double portion of the Holy Spirit power and guidance as he leads the nation at this crucial time.
Our condolences go to Dr Mrs. Naadu Mills, their son, the entire Mills' family and indeed the people of Ghana on our great loss.
COHHETI salutes all the staff of 37 Military for working tirelessly to save the life of President Mills.
The righteous man perishes and no man ponders in his heart. Devout men are taken away and no man understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. Isaiah 57:1-2
The entire membership of COHHETI says
“FARE THEE WELL”
MAY THE GOOD LORD BLESS YOUR SOUL AND
GRANT YOU SAFE JOURNEY TO ETERNITY.
